Data Centres

We deliver the best product

In the digital-first age that we now live in, the ‘cloud’ is becoming the main storage solution for information and knowledge - meaning that it is packed full of incredibly vital data. Protecting the security and privacy of that data has become a major concern - both in the digital and physical world.

Data centres are highly valuable and important areas when it comes to protecting sensitive data. Our increasing dependence on data centres in the modern day results in them being at risk of attacks - either by terrorists or criminals. We know that this means that much of a person’s time can be spent worrying about the security of a facility. Boon Edam are here to help relieve that stress.

Risk Mitigation in a Digital World

The successful implementation of security entrances within data centres must be executed with a layered approach. This means that, if an intruder were to breach a building outer perimeter, or gain access to an initial lobby, additional barriers would be in place to protect the data stored internally.

A data centre, along with many other types of buildings, is typically surrounded by a security fence. This can be outfitted with a robust full height turnstile, providing both a visual and physical deterrent against unauthorised access. This is the first line of defence when it comes to protection.

Moving past this initial touchpoint, the use of security speed gates is well suited to the lobby of data facilities. These employ sensor technology to detect objects moving through, and can prevent tailgating due to the use of an alarm - alerting security staff to a potential breach.

If the unlikely arises, and someone manages to unlawfully make their way through each of these security stages, it is important to engage in the highest levels of protection around the internal data systems themselves. This can be through the use of high security portals, which use biometric scanning and overhead sensors to ensure the credentials of each user. This is the ultimate security front line - essential for protecting data at its hub.
